Pehchaan: Clean & Confident
Menstrual health and hygiene awareness for secondary-school girls in Lyari, Karachi.
Many girls in low-income neighbourhoods learn little about menstruation before it starts. Myths, shame and a lack of supplies keep some of them home from school every month.
Pehchaan brings structured awareness sessions to girls in Class 9 and 10 at Mahazarul Uloom Girls Government Secondary School in Lyari. Sessions run with the school’s permission and parents’ consent, under clear safeguarding rules.
We are now looking for sponsors to fund the first cycle of sessions.
How you can help
- Sponsor sessions for one class
- Fund a full session cycle for the school
- Volunteer as a woman health facilitator
How it works
Safe, consented, followed up
- School permission Agreed with the school before any session starts.
- Parents’ consent A consent slip goes home with every girl.
- Awareness sessions Structured sessions on menstrual health and hygiene.
- Follow-up Monitoring so the change lasts beyond the sessions.
